The Journey Begins: Early Foundations and Expertise
Ahilan's journey began with a strong educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Master of Science in Information Technology from Madras University and Anna University, respectively. This academic prowess laid the groundwork for a career dedicated to technological advancement and strategic implementation.

Forging a Path at Afilias Canada: From Analyst to Leader
From July 2008 to July 2017, Ahilan was a pivotal force at Afilias Canada, demonstrating a remarkable ascent through various roles.
As a Senior Technical Analyst (July 2008 - October 2012), Ahilan honed his technical expertise, managing and mentoring a diverse, globally distributed team. He wasn't just solving problems; he was driving process improvements, significantly enhancing team efficiency and customer satisfaction.
His leadership qualities quickly shone through, leading to his promotion to Team Lead (November 2012 - July 2014). In this role, Ahilan became synonymous with world-class customer service, resolving complex technical issues and exceeding customer expectations. He also developed deep expertise in new TLD launch processes, internet technologies, and Salesforce dashboards.
As an IT Project Coordinator (August 2014 - July 2017), Ahilan began orchestrating project success. He expertly defined scope, allocated resources, and managed stakeholder communication, consistently delivering projects on time and within budget. A standout achievement includes launching a critical anti-abuse application three months ahead of schedule, providing a significant market differentiation, and leading a corporate portal implementation that dramatically improved budgeting and forecasting processes.

Architecting Transformation: The Project Manager Years
Ahilan's true calling as a Project Manager / Agile Leader became evident in his subsequent roles, where he consistently delivered transformative results.
From August 2017 to April 2021, at Afilias Canada in Toronto, Ahilan was a catalyst for change. He led the Guinness World Record-breaking migration of 3.15 million .au domain names, ensuring 100% uptime for critical national infrastructure—a testament to his meticulous planning and execution.
He was instrumental in transforming geo-distributed Agile teams into high-performing units, facilitating seamless collaboration. His genius for process optimization was on full display as he streamlined the TLD launch process from a laborious four weeks to a mere five days, massively accelerating time-to-market.
Ahilan also optimized registry applications via AWS cloud-native solutions, achieving a remarkable performance boost and cost savings. He implemented effective Agile practices like Scrum, improving collaboration and transparency across teams, and influenced IAM solutions, bolstering security within a tight six-month timeframe.
Furthermore, he optimized legacy data warehouse performance and scalability and drove successful organizational change through a dedicated Change Management Board. His leadership accelerated product delivery by spearheading an eight-month Agile transformation and establishing standardized JIRA reporting templates to enhance visibility and decision-making for Agile teams.
Building on this success, Ahilan joined the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) in Ottawa, Canada, from May 2021 to October 2024, as an Agile Leader/Project Manager. Here, he implemented Agile practices across more than eight teams in two business units, leading to increased productivity and improved collaboration.
Ahilan also spearheaded the migration of CIRA's website to AWS, ensuring 99% uptime while boosting scalability, performance, and security. His expertise was crucial in executing a complex .SG TLD migration project with zero disruption, and he further reduced the data center footprint by 33% through cloud migration and infrastructure optimization, enhancing security, efficiency, and sustainability. A commitment to organizational security was evident in his contributions to two ISO 27001 audits and his leadership in annual security tabletop exercises, which optimized disaster recovery documentation and response plans.
Currently, as a Senior Project Manager at NAV Canada in Ottawa since January 2025, Ahilan continues to contribute to the safety and security of Canadian air travel, leading multiple multi-million-dollar IT initiatives.
